In a quick poll of three students, sides outshone the turkey. A homemade four-cheese mac and cheese drew the strongest praise, and gravy received two votes as least favorite. A 2024 Newsweek story, “Thanksgiving Dinner Poll Reveals Most, Least Popular Foods,” reported that 67 percent of 9,609 adults planned to serve turkey. Stuffing and gravy followed at 51 percent. Corn outpaced mac and cheese, 33 percent to 27 percent.

Q: What’s your favorite Thanksgiving food?
A: “Gonna have to be mac and cheese.”
Q: Do you have a special recipe?
A: “Yeah, I’m actually gonna be making my homemade mac and cheese recipe for Thanksgiving.”
Q: What cheeses do you use?
A: “I use like a Gruyere, a nice Parmesan, cheddar and some American.”

A: “Probably the gravy. Not really a big gravy guy.”
