The fall semester brings two new editors to The MainSheet. Bec Rapacz and Wil Moser will step into co-editor positions starting September 2026.
Rapacz is a communications major at 4Cs, graduating in 2027. She is interested in “boots on the ground” photojournalism and hopes to have a career in that field someday. “Put me in a vest and a helmet, give me a camera, and drop me in Ukraine or the Congo,” she says. “I’m really inspired by the nerves of steel that people like that exhibit in times of crisis, and I think their work is absolutely necessary. The fact that journalists reporting on humanitarian crises are being targeted by authorities right now is proof of that.”
When she came to 4Cs, Rapacz wasn’t sure what she wanted to do, but quickly found, with support of her professors, that writing for The MainSheet was just what she needed: “…it puts some wind beneath my wings, it’s given me a dose of direction.”
When it comes to editing, Rapacz desires to gain experience. She says her propensity for picking out typos drew her to the role as well: “…I have a weird hobby of picking out typos and grammatical errors in any written piece of work, be it restaurant menus, textbooks, magazines, or papers. You’d be surprised how many typos are in our textbooks, y’all.”
Looking ahead to the future of The MainSheet, Rapacz has a clear vision: “I want to take what our current editors have created and run with it,” she says. “I’m so stoked that Jess (Lynch) and Isabella (Cantillano-Sanchez) had the chutzpah to broaden The Mainsheet’s horizons and allow us to write about real world issues and current events rather than just focusing on the campus community (not that 4Cs had a quiet year in terms of news…). I want to play to our writers’ strengths; Jade (Enos) is a passionate film writer, so maybe she can run a film column. Brandon’s (Goss) all over music news, Richard (Clark) is a fantastic investigative reporter. We’re all talented in our own way, here. I think lifting our writers up to reach their potential is my main goal. If they have something they’re passionate about, go after it baby!”
Everyone has a fun fact and Rapacz is no exception. She says, “I’m pretty lethal with a set of throwing knives. That’s fun, huh?”
Wil Moser will work alongside Rapacz next semester as co-editor. He is an Education major at 4Cs graduating in 2027.
Moser has changed majors a few times over the past decade, but says he finds the most joy in educating. After he graduates, he hopes to move to a diverse city with an abundance of artists. “If I can perform on stage/on camera and write about others’ artistic ventures at the same time, I’ll be happy as a clam,” he says.
Moser enjoys writing for The MainSheet because: “everyone has a story worth telling,” he says. “On a campus as large, and a student body as unique as ours, there are thousands of stories everywhere, if you know where to look.”
By stepping into the editing role next semester, Moser is following in his mother’s footsteps. “My mom is an editor/writer, so I’ve grown up reading her works and helping her out with projects as a second set of eyes,” he says. “It feels great to be on the same path that my mom was.”
Moser’s vision for The MainSheet’s next semester echoes Bec’s in that he hopes to carry on the editors’ vision from this semester. “I want to make sure that as many voices as possible are heard and seen through The MainSheet,” he shares. “I have a bias for the arts, so I’ll certainly be writing quite a bit in that department!
As for Moser’s fun fact, he says that he has “some solid fun facts” that he’s shared over the years, but he chose to share the one that few people know about. “I wrote and starred in a viral TikTok series during Covid-a Choose Your Own Adventure series that lasted 9 mini-episodes. I made it as an acting and writing exercise to keep me busy during the first few months of the pandemic, and it blew up overnight, ending up with the account getting over 3 million views! I haven’t done much with it since, but maybe someday I’ll get to writing a second season.”
Rapacz and Moser both express excitement over stepping into their editing roles next semester. Their first issue of the fall semester will debut in September.
