The Life Fitness Center (LFC) in the Wellness Center has received several upgrades to help students manage the demands of college life.
Over the summer, 4Cs invested in new cardiovascular equipment, free weights, and a heavy bag and punching bag. The new equipment includes a Precor elliptical, two Precor treadmills, a Precor recumbent bike, and a Peloton+ bike. The Peloton+ offers a variety of workouts, and all 4Cs students and employees are eligible for a free Peloton+ account.
The LFC has also renovated its gymnasium floor, which is expected to be open and ready for use the week of 9/13. Open Gym hours will be Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Basketballs are available for use with a valid student ID and a signed health waiver.
This semester, the LFC will host several outdoor activities, including Rec Soccer, which moves outside for the fall semester. Games are scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays from 3 to 4 p.m., starting in the gym (Building #10) and then moving to the fields.
Expanded fitness center hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. with added programs:
Guided hike: Mondays at 12:30 p.m. Meet at the LFC Patio for a half-hour hike around the 4Cs campus trails.
Recreation soccer: Mondays and Wednesdays from 3 to 4 p.m. Meet at the LFC Gym before heading to the fields.
Dodgeball: Drop in on Thursdays at 2 p.m. for a pickup game.
Beginner yoga: Thursdays at 4:45 p.m. in the fitness center
Nancy McIver, who oversees the LFC, said, “Since the beginning of the semester, there has been a noticeable increase in students using the facility. More students are coming in regularly, and there’s a buzz of excitement around the new offerings. We want the LFC and the fitness center to be spaces where students can improve their physical health and overall wellbeing.”
