The Halloween Bash in 2023 (Nora Bittar)

Get ready for a frightfully fun time. Cape Cod Community College’s annual Halloween Party is back and better than ever! This year’s event promises a mix of creativity, games, and good vibes, bringing students together for one of the most anticipated celebrations of the semester.
According to Student Body President Colby Firnrohr, this year’s bash will include a little something for everyone. “There will be a slime-making activity, a donut-eating contest, and a costume contest with categories from scariest to silliest,” Firnrohr said. “We’ll also have face painting, cornhole, coin toss, and a DJ. Plus, DND Club is hosting quiet games in Upper Commons for anyone who prefers a calmer space.”
Food will be served for about an hour and forty-five minutes, and students won’t want to miss the Costume Contest, which kicks off around 12:30–12:45 p.m. Game stations will run throughout the event, so there’s always something to do no matter when you arrive.
This year’s party continues a long-standing campus tradition, organized through a collaboration between student clubs, faculty, and staff. “Many clubs have dedicated weeks into preparing for an awesome Halloween Bash,” Firnrohr explained. “Pride Club is dazzling the scene with decorations, WKKL Radio is crafting the dance playlist, Anime Club is running the costume contest, and Student Government Association is hosting several game stations, including slime-making and the donut-eating contest.”
New to the celebration this year is the slime-making station, where students can mix colors, add charms, and decorate their own containers to take home. “It’s got all the classic components of making slime,” Firnrohr said. “It’s a fun, hands-on activity that lets students get creative.”
Prizes and trophies are up for grabs, too! Winners of the costume contest categories will receive a special trophy and surprise goodie bucket, while cornhole and coin toss champions can score candy or Oreo-themed prizes.
When asked why the event matters, Firnrohr kept it simple: “It’s for everyone.” Whether you come in full costume or just drop by between classes, there’s something to enjoy. “No costume? No problem!” he added. “We have a face painter! Prefer a quieter atmosphere? DND Club has you covered upstairs. Want to walk the bloody-red carpet in front of your classmates? Join the costume contest!”
The Halloween Party continues to be a highlight of the fall semester, bringing students together to celebrate, unwind, and make memories. “We hope the energy of the party stays with students even after they leave,” Firnrohr said. “There’s something for everyone, and we’re aiming for one spectacular success this year!”
