Phi Theta Kappa at Cape Cod Community College

By Lucas Connell

Cape Cod Community College’s Alpha Upsilon Mu chapter of Phi Theta Kappa has led academic recognition and leadership development since 1991. The international honor society recognizes two-year college students for academic excellence while offering scholarships, leadership roles, and opportunities that can lead to additional awards.

The chapter has earned several accolades, including Distinguished Chapter honors at PTK’s national Catalyst conference and the New England PTK Conference, ranking it among the top chapters worldwide. Its essay on the economics of play for the Honors in Action project was published in the 2024 edition of Civic Scholar: Phi Theta Kappa Journal of Undergraduate Research. In addition, two 4Cs PTK students, David Sokoll and Olivia Williams, received national recognition for their work.

Isa Greenberg, PTK chapter president since 2023, said membership offers more than academic accolades. “Our engagement in community service initiatives, academic research projects like Honors in Action, and participation in regional and national conferences provide students with opportunities to connect with peers and professionals,” she said. Greenberg added that the upcoming induction ceremony will give new members a chance to celebrate their achievements with peers, family and fellow PTK members.

The PTK induction ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19. Students interested in joining can attend a new member info session on Thursday, February 27, at 3:30 p.m. in the Library Board Room. More details about PTK, upcoming events, and membership benefits are available on the 4Cs PTK website and the chapter’s new Instagram page, @4cs.ptk.
