Cape Cod Community College’s Student Government Association (SGA) elections will take place Oct. 8–9, giving students the opportunity to select their representatives for the upcoming year.
Voting opens at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, and closes at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9. Ballots will be available online for all students.
The SGA serves as the voice of the student body, representing student interests, supporting clubs, and working with administration to improve campus life. This fall, students will vote for President, Secretary, and seven Senator positions. Nominees were invited to submit statements, and the following includes the ones we received.
Running for President:
Colby Firnrohr – Statement received
Hyacin Griffith – Did not submit a statement
Colby Firnrohr
“Hello! My name is Colby Firnrohr, I’m studying Blue Economy, I currently serve on SGA as vice president, and I am running for the position of president. I am passionate and determined in providing strong leadership and making sure each student voice is heard. I want everyone to feel safe and welcome on campus, knowing that their concerns matter and that student government is here to support all. I want to make SGA as collaborative as possible and have all know that everyone is welcome to a seat at the table!”
Running for Secretary:
Courtney Boseck – Did not submit a statement
Lana Lefrancois – Statement received
Lana Lefrancois
“My name is Lana Lefrancois and I’m running for Officer Secretary because I want to be the voice of the clubs and the community of the college. I study STEM and write and film and making my own business. In all types of levels, I can communicate with all forms of arts or science which makes me a perfect active voice for the student body.
In all consideration, I’ll do my best to maintain a strong voice and present well for our school and to many of the students. If you vote for me, you will find a place in this school where your voice can be represented, and possibilities will be endless.”
Running for Senators (seven positions available):
Michael Quinlivan – Statement received
Samuel Barragan – Statement received
Michael Parke – Statement received
Michael Quinlivan
“Hello, my name is Michael Quinlivan, and I’m running for a Senator position in student government. What I want to do and make a better impact on this semester and next year is lowering textbook rates from the online student bookstore. I believe within this student government that we can move forward and make an impact for future students at Cape Cod Community College. If you choose me to be a senator for this student government, I’ll be the voice for the student body. Thanks for your time and please vote for me.”
Samuel Barragan
“Hello! My name is Samuel Barragan, a first semester student here at 4Cs. I’m running for student government because I believe in the power of student voices to shape real change. Our school is full of energy, creativity, and potential. I want to make sure that every voice is heard and represented. The backbone of my campaign is adding Baja Blast to the schools vending machines across campus , but on a more serious note: I will be the bridge of the student body to the school government and various committees making sure that my vote, when cast, represents everyone of my fellow students. From improving student life to making our events more inclusive and exciting, and working with the school to create more resources for us all, I’m ready to listen, lead, and act. This isn’t just about leadership, it’s about building a community we’re all proud to be part of. Let’s make it happen, together.”
Michael Parke
“Hello! My name is Michael Parke, and I am an AMT student currently in Airframe II. I am interested in running for SGA because I heard that it would be a good opportunity to bring together the AMT hangars and the main campus. One thing I’d like to see worked on is Honors opportunities for AMT students. Another thing I’d like to see worked on is clear communication about events/clubs at the hangars. I’d like it to be more of a two-way street between students and faculty for both.”
Students are encouraged to read through each statement before casting their votes. Every ballot counts toward shaping the leadership that represents the 4Cs community.
