Letter From the (Next) Editor

By Jessica Lynch

Dear MainSheet readers,

I am happy to announce that, in the spring semester, I will transition from managing editor of the MainSheet to editor-in-chief. Current MainSheet reporter Jordyn Pimental will step into the role as managing editor. I am very excited to take on this new opportunity and lead the MainSheet alongside Jordyn.

Working with current Editor-in-Chief Tribekah Jordan has been a wonderful experience. The MainSheet has thrived as a result of her outstanding leadership. Tribekah’s contributions to the MainSheet have made a positive impact, and I wish to keep them in place. I will continue to encourage students who may have an interest in podcasting to record episodes for our MainSheet podcast and will continue to build the MainSheet’s social media presence to increase readership.

I hope to try out new things for the MainSheet in the upcoming semester as well. I would love to include more stories that highlight little-known places on campus. For example, I didn’t know there was a beautiful nature trail right in our campus’ backyard. I’d love to inform readers of places they may not have explored on campus yet. I also want to feature some stories that encourage students with an adventurous spirit to head off campus between classes to visit a local gem, like a restaurant or bookstore. One of my favorite stories to write for the MainSheet detailed my experience at a local lavender farm off campus.

I plan to keep some things the same as they have always been, such as continuing to listen to what our reporters are most interested in writing about. I want them to incorporate their passions into their stories and continue to cultivate the accepting and warm environment that writing for the MainSheet has always had. With the help of incoming Managing Editor Jordyn and our professor Tim Miller, I want to help students realize their love for writing and foster it with stories they are proud to publish for our readers.

If you are interested in writing for the MainSheet or wish to enroll in Journalism 1 or 2, reach out to Professor Miller at tmiller@capecod.edu.

Thank you, readers, for your continued support of all of us here at the MainSheet. We all truly appreciate you and wish you a fun and productive spring semester.!
