Dear MainSheet Readers,
Welcome to a new semester! Fall is my favorite time of year. I love when the leaves start to change and the breezes get cooler. The myriad of assignments marking a new fall semester? Not so much.
I am excited to resume my position as editor-in-chief of the MainSheet this semester. I enjoyed serving as editor in the spring semester alongside Managing Editor Jordyn Pimental and Professor Tim Miller. I particularly enjoyed helping new journalism students build their skills and recognize their love for writing, while also being able to write my own pieces. As mentioned in my last letter, and anytime I introduce myself around campus, I love writing! As an English major, I feel comfortable and happy writing, and someday I hope to make a career out of it. Being afforded the opportunity to involve myself in the 4Cs community while being able to do what I love and impacting students means so much to me.
This semester, Isabella Cantillano-Sanchez and Grace Lema will serve as co-managing editors of the MainSheet. Both Isabella and Grace joined Professor Miller’s Journalism 1 course last semester and showed fantastic writing skills and initiative. I’m looking forward to working with them and know they will bring great things to the paper. In addition to me, Isabella and Grace, we have 12 staff reporters on the MainSheet team.
Our vision for the MainSheet this semester will continue to be to serve our readers with interesting and timely stories to keep them in the know. We plan to feature person on the street interviews so we can hear the voices of our student body, entertainment reviews so you can find some new media to check out (or maybe to skip), event coverage to see what’s worth attending (or wishing that you attended), professor spotlights for learning new things about our awesome faculty, and much more!
As always, we want to hear from you! If you have a couple of minutes, fill out this Google Form to let us know what you want to see in our student paper this semester! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScUog1Ft1MTSVyikyfCsmn_kb6Tbhpj0ud09P21mravZgUDWA/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=118430596311344160464
I wish you all good luck in the fall semester and I sincerely thank you for reading our paper.
Sincerely,
Jessica Lynch
