How Professor St. Onge Transformed My Psychology Experience

By Madison Sylvester

Starting this semester at Cape Cod Community College, I was nervous about beginning a new routine surrounded by unfamiliar faces. As classes come to an end, however, I can confidently say that I found supportive professors, with one standing out in particular—Professor St. Onge, my general psychology instructor.

From the first class, she eased our nerves by announcing there would be no tests, quizzes, midterms, or finals, setting a tone for a smooth and stress-free learning experience. She also emphasized her role as a safe and supportive resource, offering extra help and flexibility when needed. Many students affectionately call her their “campus mom,” and as the semester concludes, I completely understand why.

Professor St. Onge’s passion for teaching shines through her work. Her classes are never dull, and she consistently encourages students to do their best, assuring us that our efforts are enough. She provides positive feedback on assignments and keeps classes interactive. Even as a remote student attending via Zoom, I felt just as involved as those attending in person.

Through breakout rooms, she fostered connections among classmates, giving me the chance to make friends while engaging in discussions and group projects. This sense of community added an enjoyable dynamic to the course. Professor St. Onge will soon be the psychology program coordinator and the incoming human service program coordinator, and she recommends everyone to take a trip to the 4Cs Instagram page, @4Cspsych !

Overall, I highly recommend taking general psychology with Professor St. Onge. Not only did I gain valuable knowledge from the material, but I also learned so much from her example as a supportive and inspiring educator.
