‘Sea Change’ Gives Students a Chance to Shine

2024 “Sea Change” Magazine (Kersten Marchese)

Are you passionate about art? Do you dream of seeing your work published? There’s an opportunity for all 4Cs staff, students, alumni, and area high school students to shine.  Each year, the English department produces “Sea Change,” a magazine that has been a tradition at Cape Cod Community College since 1968. Professor Rebecca Griffin, who has advised the magazine since 2017, says, “The library archives still hold issues dating back to the early years. It’s interesting to see how “Sea Change” has changed over time, always reflecting the era it was published.” Students in Griffin’s ENG170 class have been editing and publishing the magazine for nearly a decade. Working on “Sea Change” has helped many students build meaningful connections, according to Griffin.

While it’s tough to pick standout submissions, Griffin noted that the 4Cs community is full of talent. “It’s hard to single out any in particular,” she said. Editors often find themselves wishing they could include more work, but due to limited space, they face difficult choices.

“Sea Change” welcomes a wide variety of submissions, including poetry, fiction, nonfiction, photography, and art. Full guidelines are available on the magazine’s website. To submit your work for the 2025 issue, visit Seachange’s submission page. The deadline for submissions is February 14th.
