In today’s society, we spend a lot of time scrolling through social media. For students, social media has also become a valuable tool. Cape Cod Community College maintains accounts on Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube, and its profiles increasingly shape how students get information about campus life.
What stands out about 4Cs’ social media is how welcoming the posts are and the strategies used to connect with the audience. In September 2025, the 4Cs Instagram page welcomed new and returning students with photos of real students outside Grossman Commons and in the campus auditorium.
The captions featured answers to the question, “What advice do you have for new students?” Students gave answers varying from hanging out on campus, getting involved in different clubs, and using locations like the library and the science building for studying.
Student-created content further strengthens this connection. The college’s social media pages are full of videos featuring real students discussing new student orientation, tips for success, and where to study for finals. Community-driven content allows students to see firsthand how to have a positive experience at 4Cs.
TikTok is used differently than Instagram, emphasizing content that can be more engaging to the audience. A post from September of 2023 has a green-screen clip of a cat driving a car on a highway, with the caption above reading, “Getting to campus 5 minutes before class and trying to find the closest spot.” One follower commented, “We have all been there.” Posting relatable content like this is important so students can see that the issues they’re facing are very common and that they are not alone.
The YouTube channel focuses on longer-form content, giving students a closer look at the college’s services and spaces. 360-degree videos offer virtual tours of campus, and “Student Takeover” videos allow new, current, and past students to share their experiences. Learning about 4Cs from other students keeps the community connected.
For a more professional perspective, the college’s LinkedIn page highlights achievements of graduates and shares career opportunities. Students can draw inspiration from alumni accomplishments, and job postings provide options for those seeking daytime or evening work, supporting students’ paths to future careers.
From Instagram to TikTok to YouTube and LinkedIn, 4Cs’ social media fosters a sense of belonging. By highlighting real campus life, offering tips for new students, and sharing engaging content like 360-degree tours and student takeovers, the college helps students feel confident and connected. Seeing these posts makes students proud to be part of the 4Cs community.
